There still around.
Taken this evening but becomeing increasingly difficult to get close to.
Since the start of harvest everything has changed. Large areas of setaside have been cut along with crops. So Mr Hare has had to find new areas to hide.

I did run over one once, unavoidable, it ran straight out in front of me. :frown:
Ended up in my mother's oven. Tasted delicious.
Superb evocative image.

I nearly did run over one on way to work today - had to stop. This is one of the best of the series I think. The detail is just superb and the mush is very nicely done.

Typical Hare 'stare' Major . Might want to back the sharpening off a touch, it's fur looks to be verging on over sharpened.

I wouldn't run one over John - I hit one at 3am on the moors on the way home from work several years ago - they can make quite a bang at 60mph . Ended up breaking the front of the bumper, but the hare came of worst :frown:.

great shot, i have for the last 9 days following/trying to get a good close up shot of these species, have got close with one or two good shots, which have been very pleasing.

however i now know how hard it is to get close and personnal in order to get the 'shot', when they are alerted to intruders they certainly gain huge speed with their powerful rear legs to put massive distance in a very short time

Love this shot. Really like the light. Might be tempted to lose the strand of grass emerging from above the right ear but that is probably just nit picking, would love to get some images of hares.

Thanks for your comments all.
Jeff am pleased somebody realises just how difficult these can be. Have now spent hours on these this year and have a few good images in the bag.
Unless your very lucky I think the only way is to put time in to get any sort of result but I have enjoyed doing it immensley.
