Has anyone tried the new line of Kenko pro teleconverters? If so, what do you think of them?

I use a Kenko Pro 2x tele with my Canon 300mm f/2.8 & get excellent results..
I even bought the 3x for those rare times I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of sharpness to get that long range shot..I recommend the 1.4 and 2x for regular use with a prime lens. You'll save money over the same Canon teleconverters, and the glass is equal in its optics.

I use the 1.4x and 2x Pro converters. Optically they are pretty good as far as TCs are concerned. I use Nikon equipment and the Kenko is one of the few that will work with an 80-200 2.8 ED lens. Mechanically they are a little bit sloppy, the lens mounts are not as tight at the Nikon mounts, but that is rarely noticed in shooting.
The 1.4x only degrades the image slightly, and if you stop down to F8 it is excellent. Focusing speed is only slightly affected. The 2x is slower and noticeably less sharp, although it can still produce good sharp images when used with a sharp lens. Sigma lenses do not like Kenko extenders. They do not work in autofocus mode and give errors on my D200.

I also use the Kenko 1.4X and 2X Pro converters with a Nikon 300mm ED AF f/2.8 prime lens and have found to get excellent results using a Nikon D700. With this older lens it supports the auto focus and searches very little and seems to be quit sharp. Both of them being less then $200.00 each I found them to be quite a bargain...
