I really like this. The composition and the texture in the cat's (lynx?) fur and nose is great. You say it's cropped but did you shoot it with this in mind?
Yes this does it for me. Love the way the fur fades out to white at the edges bottom & left. Is there a slight tint to this? I really like this sort of treatment - reminds me of one of the best lion films I've seen (filmed by Owen Newman) for which he used huge lenses and shallow dof to get very very abstract images of various parts of the lions all diffused by grass and atmospheric shimmer. NIce to shift our focus to specifics - that nose is superb.

I really like this, was it just a black and white conversion because it looks like more has been done to it.

really like this shot...would like to see more like it.
Terry: Yes, lynx. No, not specifically shot with this in mind, it was eyes I was after but that crop wasn't as effective. The head is composed larger than FF at 60 mb so these sorts of crops are possible and useable.
Liam: You're right, b&w conversion with a blue mask converted to 'Colour' and reduced to 10%. Contrast and brightness boosted on a separate layer then masked to emphasize the nose.

Different and very nice, love the slight blue colouring and the detail is stunning
Really good to see something different every now & again, great shot. RE: B&W I think it works really well as is, but as usual always something personal.
