Here's a short video of a fella using a Canon 5D Mark II with Canon's 1200mm lens. Talk about getting in close to the bird... he shot a rabbit with a 2x teleconverter, and wait until you see the image quality. I know, I know, a $120,000.00 lens weighing in at 36 pounds is totally nuts, but it's fun to think on for a few minutes (actually, four minutes, that's all the video is).

An awesome video - but this exact link was posted a few days ago on the forum. . . .
According to that review, the image quality appears (due to optical and natural factors - such as air polution) not as good as the price would suggest. The symbolic value of this lens is bigger than practical.

A 36-pound $120K lens is definitely not practical Arthur, I just posted it for the insanity of something like that.

You would think he would have a 1Ds mk III to go with that lens and not just a 5d mk II.

I would have used an Elan 7 with Walgreen's brand print film.

When the store has a sale, is it sold as "Only one per family." ?

Usually, although they sometimes have a "Buy One, Get One 50% Off" sale if you use coupon code "ThisIsNuts" upon checkout. Other times it's been offered with a $10 Mail-In-Rebate if you purchase it along with this Sigma Lens. That really helps cut down the cost.
