Temple Peak Reflection
It has been 15 years since I have been in the Wind River Range and since I needed to get at least one mountain backpack in this summer before CC gets rolling, I headed up on Wednesday to check out the Deep Lake area.
It was a great trip and the weather was interesting: storms in the PM with great clouds, and yesterday I actually hiked out in the snow! Any way this image is a quick process job (I have lots more to organize and process) but thought you guys might like this one. Rick,Scott and Jack should recognize it!

outSTANDing! I love the brutal symmetry, and the light, and the clouds, and, and, and...

Very nice!
I like how the shadow on the right narrows like an arrowhead to where the mountains and water meet. Excellent composition.

Colorado is amazing....this is another example of that...

The good folks of Wyoming will be especially pleased to hear this one!

Very lovely! The peaks and reflections are great, but the composition sends it way up.

Yes Colorado is amazing but the Wind River Range is actually in Wyoming
Thanks for the Comment!

The dimensionality here is awesome!

Great shot Steve, I love the ruggedness of the Winds. Love the peaks, the light, the clouds - awesome.

It's great as it is, but I might be tempted to crop this into a 4x5 format personally. When I look at the image, my eye keeps getting drawn out of the frame towards the highlights, when I want to stay focused on the main peaks. Just my 2 cents tho!

Excellent, Steve. Beautiful comp and great clouds, sweet!

It's amazing what today's point-and-shoots can do these days  , especially the larger 4x5 ones.

What trailhead did you use? Big Sandy?
Posted by Stephen Weaver on August 17, 2009 at 2:16 PM
Don
Yes I went out of Big Sandy Opening: there must have been at least a 100 vehicles there!

Oh yeah! Beautiful shot, Steve. Immediately brought back great memories. That's one of my top 2 or 3 camping spots of all-time - epic views in almost every direction. Can't believe you got a shot with no wind! Looking forward to seeing more from your trip.

This is an incredible shot Stephen! Glad to see the conditions rewarded your efforts (and good timing!). I echo Michael's comments about cropping a bit off the right side. Man, I'm dying to get to the Winds.
