I spent the weekend in Manhattan, and found this cross on a hill near Pillsbury Crossing. Just last week the a VP at the hospital I work at suggested that he might hang a couple of my photos if they matched the theme of his photos that were already hanging in a different hallway. Those photos are mostly crosses and flowers, neither of which I've spent much time photographing. I came across this cross Friday night, and made 4 trips out there. This is from Sunday afternoon, and I hope Scott B. was out shooting the amazing cloud/light show. I was probably 30 minutes late in getting out, because I was traveling back from KC, and the light show didn't last long. This is a 2 exposure blend, converted to b/w, with a small crop.

Very nice shot Rob!! The different elements go great together! I was out on Old K18 and at Pillsbury Saturday morning and then up at Waterville Saturday evening. Too bad I missed you!

The scene definitely supports a b/w presentation Rob. I like this overall but would like to see a bit more at the bottom so the horizon doesn't exit the frame exactly in the corner. Just a small crop from the left should do it.

Scott, if I hadn't checked out Pillsbury Friday night and seen how low it was, I would have been there Saturday morning too. Wayne, thanks for commenting on the crop. I was undecided for sure where to end the hill.
The light beams really make this composition. Would love to see the cross a little further into the frame but it works but it add some nice tension the way you have it.
Some pond and crosses near my office. Similar composition but color instead of light beams.

Beautiful scene, Ed. The light is great and the calm waters really work. You have quite a view near your office :). I just looked at my original and there is a little more room to the right, so more space is possible.
