Roe buck in the rain
Haven't been at home much of recent so haven't had a chance to post much, this one is from a week or so back, i spotted this buck from quite a distance and saw him lie down, approached carefully and got into position and then waited. At which point of course it began to rain, spent half an hour sitting there in the rain focusing and refocussing on his antlers peeking above the heather. Eventually he stood up and i put the focus point on it's face and the autofocus failed, forced to shoot manual focus for the rest of the session i also checked other functions and discovered most of them weren't working. I wasn't even sure the images were being recorded since the playback didn't work. As you can see they were after all and luckily after a night buried in rice in the airing cupboard the camera was up to full functionality again, so no harm done, but a lesson learnt on the weatherproofing of the 40D

40D + 300mm F4L + 1.4 extender
1/160 @ F5.6
FULL Frame
ISO 640

Like the portrait format and the detail is very good, the OOF foreground draw's my eye a little, but it still is a lovely portrait I'd be pleased with  :wavey:

Hi Jack,
A nice portrait and the falling rain is an added bonus, although obviously not for you at the time. Pleased to hear your camera recovered ok.

Nice one, I'm not too fond of the OOF forground here, it seems to dominate a bit too much, perhaps its the shape of it? But still a nice image.
