Full Frame With Just A Hint Of Colour -Puffin+Crop
Another 'Love Em' or 'Hate Em' shot. This was a Puffin sleeping on the island of Staple, part of the Farnes.I took this because like the title say's the image was almost colourless apart for a hint of colour of the puffin's beak also the rock in the foreground takes your eye's straight to that colourful point and the texture in the puffin's feathers alongside the smooth surface of the rock I liked very much.

Hi Craig - I like the idea, and I love how you have captured the Puffin, lots of detail - but, for me, there is just a little bit too much OOF foreground, kind of over powers the bird - I covered the lower part of the screen to give a horizontal shot - works better for me - but maybe not for you. Nice and different though!

cheers

A nice change from the usual puffin image. Keep these experiments coming, Craig. Great to see.

Hi Craig,

A lovely and different portrait of a Puffin

I always think they look rather sad.

Too much foreground for me too Craig, though the detail in the Puffin is excellent.

This isn't quite working for me Craig as I find the foreground rock just a bit too over-powering.
Good to try the unconventional approach though.

Nice shot Craig,

I think there's a lot to be said for minimalist shots. Somehow I think they can be more revealing.

Just got in from work and expected this to have 'bombed' but very nice to see all the different comments all of which are appreciated,I was just trying something different and the moment I saw this shot in my head I took it.,It's all been said on here on a number of recent debate's 'It's all been done','Honeypot's'etc so I am creating my own style just through trying, trying and trying again. Thanks to those that have taken the time to comment on my shot's and in turn are helping my progress with their take on my images and their advice,Thanks   Love the texture's here in the feathers!!!

I like both images but prefer the second one. Well done Craig :toast:

The second image is the winner for me Craig it has much more impact.
The details are shown off very well in this shot.
