Looks pretty awesome, although I think I'm more excited about the S90.

Interesting that they came back down to the MP count of the G11 to the level of the Panasonic LX3. The S90 looks like it is aimed squarely at the LX3 in size and capabilities. Its a sharp looking little camera.

Hey, seems like they came out with the G10 only a few months ago. Though no DSLR, I really like my G9. I'm glad they continue to improve these little things and maybe can afford to upgrade mine, probably somewhere around the G16, at the rate they are going.

Talked to a Canon rep about this camera a little over 3 weeks ago. He couldn't tell me when it was going to be announced "...but check back around the 19th." He said they were lowering the mp level but increased the size of the sensor to more closely resemble the AP-S sensor. They say this will reduce the noise particularly at low light levels. My favorite feature is the flip out screen. Sadly, I need to acquire one for a trip before the G11 ships in October. So........if one of you guys wants to dump your G10 and upgrade, call me.

Hallelujah! :jump:

This is the one I've been waiting for. A lower pixel count (..finally!), 'greatly improved dynamic range', '2 stops better noise reduction over the G10' and a twist 'n' swivel LCD screen.
I've been hanging on to my old G6 just because of that wonderfully versatile screen and cleaner images at ISO 200+.
The S90 looks interesting, but the lack of an optical viewfinder is a deal breaker for this old timer.

And of course, how can you beat a talking printer?

Thanks for the heads up, Todd!

I've been using the G10 and its proprietary water housing for scuba/snorkeling... good times. Love that thing in the water. If the g11 had a faster frame rate, I'd gladly move up :)

As a photographer, Canon fan, and a camera shop manager, I'm very excited by both the G11 and the S90. I may have to dump my G10 and get both of them. It's nice to see that Canon listened to us when we asked for fewer but better mega-pixels.

Glad to see the improved shutter speed. I have taken too many blurry photos with the
shutter lag in the G9 and G10.

John M.: I fully concur on the talking printer. First thing I thought when I saw that was, "Why?"

Also, your favorite aspects of the G11 are mine also. If I had a dollar for every time someone has mentioned the crappy low-light/noise performance of the G9/G10, I could afford a G11!

Good thing I sold my G9 on eBay a couple of months ago. Got a really good price for it as well as I made the switch to the LX3.
