Hi again friends. I have been asked to join this group and just wondered if any of you ever heard of them? www.wildtiger.org

I got an email from them today as well- I went to their website but didn't quite 'get' what it is they're trying to do. I'm anxious to see other replies.

My first question on looking at the website was wondering about copyright control if your submit an image. Any file large enough to use as prints is going to publishable as well.

I received an email as well. Clearly a very broad spam campaign to get subscribers. I'd be curious to see other responses here as well.

I looked up their domain name registration information and here is the company that "owns" the domain name:
Registrant Name:DAIMER P KINROSS
Registrant Organization:DAIMER P KINROSS
Registrant Street1:NEPAL WILDLIFE RESORT
Registrant City:Thakurdwara
Registrant State/Province:Bardia
Don't know if this helps anyone in decision making, but thought I would "throw" it in.
I got one too!!
Being a cautious person, i'm suspicious.
It may be a spam campaign to a bunch of photographers to ask them to contribute photographs for free, that they would then print and sell.
It may or may not be a good "cause".
I wonder how many others here are hearing from them, and how they got our email addresses..
I'd need a LOT more info from them first.
The way I see it, I'd be happy to submit small jpegs, but would not submit anything high rez until I received payment and some very convincing rights managed terms.
I also received this email, and being the cautious and suspicious person that I am, I deleted it. Seems like they sent a very broad mailing in an effort to get mass signups.

I also got one. After looking at the site it seems that they want your picts to sell and then send you a commission and use the money for the tiger organization. That was my impression. I wonder if they are pulling addresses off this site?

My spam filter got one. I'm suspicious by vocation, and this sets off a number of alarms for me. Chief among them is the absence of any kind of accountability.
Email addresses are pretty well hidden on this site, and the address I received the message at isn't the one that links from Jim E.'s email message page. So I don't think the addresses are being harvested here...
I recived one of these as well. I live in England, UK. I would think the e-mail addresses have been obtained from this site as I have not received this from other sources. I have not seen any comment from other NPN memebers from the UK site. Like most of you, I am very wary of this type of communication.
Dang. I feel so left out! Nonesuch in any of our emails. I don't go to a lot of photo sites, so maybe another that folks are frequenting is the culprit. I keep a couple of email addresses "in the wings" to use when I suspect the site will be a source for phishing. Pretty easy to can the address when my suspicions prove out.
We use a stunt with suspicious queries, and it's worked well. We post a selection of small images to a commercial host site we use for portfolio reviews, then provide a password for them to access that selection. The "client" can review and select images, but has to sign a contract and pay for usage before we deliver. Leaves a dandy paper trail AND a bank deposit in the process. A few have objected to paying first, but we ask if they pay on ordering or wait till delivery before paying for a new computer. Our photos are products too.
Wow friends I hadnt realized I got so many responses from this. Seems Phishy to me too,. Of course I would want to support a cause but looks to vague. Anyway I think they get our adresses from our www link on this site as I see we all have one. That's why I dont post extra large images, Im sorry but I've seen image theft on Better Photo before as well as My friends images being used in advertisements and although Im no Picasso, my images are very sacred to me . So forgive me for not posting large images. Its not you , it's the rest of theworkd with that small but unforgiving percentage of theives and dishonest people.,.,. shame on them
