Last week as I was driving down a local back road, I caught sight of the colorful Milkweed growing alongside the road, along with a few Monarchs landing and feeding on the flowers.

I keep meaning to capture some butterfly photos this summer, but I keep forgetting - darn that Old Timer's!

Nice shot, Toni.
I wish we had back roads! When I've tried to stop for road side shots,(there are actually a lot with potential) I've been asked to cease and desist by Illinois' finest(emergency stopping only), and almost rear ended by idiots who think four way flashers are a target.

Thanks, guys :)
Tim...that Old Timer's almost made me forget about the Dahlias (this year) that I've been shooting for the last 3 years in a friend's garden!
Bruce...there are a lot of people out there like that...probably the same ones that don't slow down or move over for emergency vehicles :(

Lovely butterfly shot, Toni! The colors are gorgeous and the subject was very cooperative in giving you a nice shallow DOF pose.
Nice shot. I have a shot just about like this taken a few days ago. I'm starting to see Monarchs around now and they should be in full migration by the end of the month.

Well captured, Toni. And what a beautiful specimen.

Thank you. I'm going to try for more later today as I discovered some Butterfly bushes with Monarchs which appear not to be as skittish as this one was.
