No Name Creek
Alaska shines, even in the gloom. This creek probably has a name, but I don't know it. Any comments and critiques are welcome. I will certainly be back—3 days just wasn't enough! :wavey:

That reminds me of stretches of Brushicana Creek, but there are lots more possibilities. The sky at the horizon and especially it's reflection in the creek really make this for me Phil. You've done an excellent job of not letting the forest go dark while still retaining the sky and water detail. And the comp pulls it all together.

Three days? Three days! Geez, you better get back here, and soon!

Brushkana Creek. There was an American Dipper nest under the bridge earlier this year; not sure if it would still be there when you were by. Nice exposure; I especially like your capture of the rainy day green of the willows.

My rule for travel is the further you go the longer you have to stay. If I drive out to the Airport Ponds - 10 miles - an hour or two is fine. If I drive to Eagle Summit - two hours - I stay a day. If I fly to Florida, it's two weeks. If I fly to Ecuador, its a full month. Georgia to Alaska should be two weeks, minimum. Hank and I would be happy to develop an itinerary for you.

Itinerary for sure! :toast:

And thanks for the spelling correction, Jim. After a day wandering the flats photographing caribou and noshing blueberries, it's not surprising that I would remember it as BRUSHY-kana Creek!

I actually had ten days. but the other 7 were taken with mostly family obligations or logistics. Next time, I will make contact well ahead of time.

Thanks for naming the creek!

Phil,
I have been to AK several times. You are correct in saying you take only what it gives....

Along that line, one time (August 2006), on the north slope, I got a roadside picture of Musk Ox. I'll try to find that pic and post it back here.

Sounds like you enjoyed the "Great Land"...
