Here's another detail made when Lon and I were wandering around the Sonora Pass country in July. This old and gnarled snag is very near our campsite. I had seen this part of the tree many times, and this time the light finally gave the glow I wanted.

Amazing amount of finer details throughout this entire capture, Preston. As you mentioned, the light finally gave the glow, which made this one really pop. I especially like the bleached out white wood, there are areas of it that are really excellent.

Preston,

Amazing how much is contained in any one tree, and especially this one that I believe is the one that is riddled with bullet holes too... :frown:

This one certainly shows it's age from those "many winters." Great title btw. I like the detail and natural coloration. I do kinda wish there was a little more space all the way around, but we don't always have that luxury of zooming in and out do we... :-)

Excellent, intimate image from this grand old tree.

The colors, textures and details found in this image are wonderful. The composition is pleasing enough to hold it all together, but probably not the image's strongest feature. I'm sure this would be fun to explore in a large print. Nice work!

The color contrast at the top is what really draws me in. An aunt of mine once said that trees hold secrets - looks like you might have learned a few with this shot. A wonderful intimate nature shot.

Preston, nice sharp detail in the old snag. The great light is really making it bold and memorable.

Lots of very nice detail, Preston, but I kinda prefer the smooth, sensuous, honey colored snags

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Lon, I did crop this a bit. Perhaps I'll look at the tranny again.

It looks like this one will wind up going through the printer.

Thanks again!
