On behalf of Marc and Guy, we would like to acknowledge Tony Kuyper for his contributions to NPN and most notably the ES&S Gallery.
Tony just passed the 10,000 comment plateau. Congratulations Tony and thank you for your valued participation and of course for your beautiful imagery from the American Southwest.
Right next to "Marc's sharpening technique," "Tony's Luminosity masks" are probably the most commonly written phrases in ES&S.
I saw that Tony had gone over the 10,000 comment threshold. Contributions such as this speak volumes about Tony's commitment to our NPN community, and to photography!
Beyond the obvious insightful--and always polite--commentary and critique and the phenomenal image-making, I'm not sure there's been a more impacting member of this sight on my own photography. I use Tony's luminosity and/or (usually and) saturation masks on the vast majority of my own images. I literally can't imagine having to post process without them at this point.
Tony, thanks for all you've done.

Members are what make this such a wonderful site to belong to. Thanks Tony for all your help and contributions here and on your own site.
Tony: Thanks for your long term commitment to NPN and for all you contribute from inspiring images, to insightful and helpful critiques, to brilliant tutorials. Many >=))>
WOW, what true dedication to excellence throughout also. Truly the master of masking technique R&D for which we have all either benefited from viewing images enhanced with the processes, or like many of us, in the use of the techniques and a much improved outcome as a result.
Congratulations to you Tony on reaching this amazing plateau here at NPN.
Tony, I always read your input on ESS photos with great interest. You are truly a photography master and we are all so grateful for your willingness to share your knowledge and insights with the rest of us. Thank you!!!

I sincerely appreciate the kind words. I've been around for nearly six years, and so if you calculate that out, it's on average somewhere between 4 and 5 posts each day. Not all that dramatic really. They just add up if you hang around long enough.
I clicked the "ALL POSTS" link on one of my comments and was able to go back to 2003 and follow the progress of images I commented on that have also been around since then. Those greater than 35-days-old were the ones chosen as Editor's Picks, which made their status permanent. WOW! It's easy to see that there have been some really incredible pictures through the years, and it was great looking back in time to remember them. Many of the photographers are still here, and it's been fascinating and instructive to have watched their progress.
On a personal note, my own photography has benefited greatly from looking at the images here and receiving feedback from other photographers. I have learned so much during my years on NPN and am grateful for the advice, support, and opportunity this community has provided. Thank you.
Congratulations and thank you, Tony! Your input and sharing are invaluable to the NPN community, and I have benefitted from both your comments and posts. Here's to the next 10,000.
Congrats on a fine milestone! I very much value your input on my images, as you tell it straight and constructive. Your contribution is much appreciated by all. And your Luminosity Masks totally rock!!!
