Female Common Darter
Had a lovely day today, loads of Dragons but only Darters perching. Sitting in a tranquil setting by a pond in the sunshine - not much more you could want and the company wasn't bad either:biggrin:

Excellent autumn-like colours (it'll soon be here.) and I like the texture in the dead flowers. Very nice indeed.

Nits covered, it's a lovely composition, rich colours and good detail.

The light was just to harsh to do this image justice. Also the sharpness is not on the head if you ask me and I think you sharpened it to much by looking at the halo around the subject. Comp. wise it's a good shot but I know you can do better. Just try the early mornings or evenings. Light will be better then. Try to shoot with the sun behind you. I will fill in the shadows and make the image a bit softer.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Thanks Edwin for the advice. I didn't know you had had access to my old school reports though "Could do better"

Hi Austin. I may have over sharpened as I am still trying to get to grips with the processing for web in Elements 6 but the focus was definitely on the head and upper body. I have checked the focus point in NX.

Hi, Have to agree with Edwin I'm afraid... the image has a slightly over processed look.... A set of diffusers are always handy when you are presented with these sorts of conditions....
