Take Off
1D2n, 600mm f4 is, 1000s, f4, iso 400. Setting sun. Taken in vertical mode, slight crop.

I'm always amazed by the reflection in these conditions, but this hasn't turned out quite as intended. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this one.

Hi Ian,

Really nice shot, works well IMO. A tiny bit more room at the top would have clinched it for me. Like the narrow crop.

Cheers,

Lewis.

I'm the other way I'm afraid having had a couple of looks at it i'd be inclined to crop the bottom,to just below the whiter water surface .Although the reflection is a nice bonus the perspective works better that way for me.Image wise its certainly up to your benchmark standards.

Hi Ian. I agree with Lewis I would definitely like a bit more room on top although imagine you were trying to get the whole reflection in the shot. A very nice and different composition. I like it a lot. :wavey:

Thanks all - here's an alternative crop, processed hurriedly before bed!

I'd like to see halfway between the two, more room at the top but more reflection too - but then I'm a fan of these long stretched out reflections

Number two for me too... great action caught with your trademark viewpoint.

Hello Ian,
I wouldn't like to have to choose, but if you pushed me, perhaps I would go for the first. I knew it was one of yours before I even saw your name at the top and that individuality of style is a priceless asset these days. It's an excellent shot.

Leave it as posted for me. A superb capture Ian. Perfect wing position, good light & the disturbed water make this special.

When using the screen scroll to see a No.2 crop of the large version it really is a super shot. Really is great and inspiring work.
