As a long time user of PTE, instructor on, and co-author of the Unofficial PTE Users Guide, I thought this might be of specifi interest to MacIntosh users who have Intel based MacIntosh running OSX 10.4 or higher:

As most probably already know, it's been possible for MacIntosh user who use Bootcamp, etc., to run PC programs such as PicturesToExe and create slideshows which can be seen in DVD, Hi Definition on large screen TV's, high resolution MP4 h.264, etc., but there is something new which may be important.

The next release of PTE (PicturesToExe) which is now available as a fully functional beta to all registered users, can output Native MacIntosh executable code in full resolution on your MacIntosh. This new version also supports multi-displays, internal mask creation and adjustment, adjustable borders for your images, 3D transform (fully keyframe adjustable for perspective), fully adjustable 3D drop shadows, etc. Beta 11 coded 5.7 now available for download - will probably be released as PTE 6.0 soon.

PTE is presentation slideshow software allowing creation of slideshows, presentations, etc.

I haven't evaluated the PicturestoExe, but much of the functionality you describe is available in the software that ships with the Mac, isn't it? iLife has the ability to turn a slide show into a iMovie, which can be moved to DVD with iDVD. Or am I missing something?

Hi Jim,

Actually, you are (missing something).

PicturesToExe is dedicated presentation slideshow software which produces full resolution shows. Whatever your display resolution, the program can output a native MacIntosh show at that resolution.

For example, if you have a four megapixel display, you can display your photos at that full resolution complete with amazing animations, sophisticated masking, etc., which is not available in other than dedicated professional presentation slideshow software.

You have full automatic or full manual control over your presentation, you can navigate to "any" slide from any other slide, you can run external code, create menus allowing you to run sequences of other slideshows either manually or automatically, etc., etc. You have 3D transforms, 3D shadows, full control over unlimited layers, opacity, objects, etc., Way too much to describe here. iLife is definitely "not" even remotely similar to the functionality of PTE.

Best regards,

Lin
