I find Chicago Botanical Gardens a great place to shoot Florals, Floral Scapes and of course all the bugs that come in search of flowers. Its one huge Garden and will need several days to really appreciate everything it has to offer.

This is a photo I made when I was there with my family a couple days back. I wanted to enjoy my time there more than do any serious photography but I did make a few photos like a tourist  . The statue is that of Carl Linnaeus

If Chicago is close to where you live then you must plan a visit to this lovely garden.

Great photo Ram,
I was curious about the gardens, I read you have to purchase a photography permit in order to take pictures there. Is this true?
Very interesting shot, well done

Anthony, This Page provides information about Photography at the CBG.

The photography/videography guidelines outlined here are intended for all guests, but a permit is only necessary for those who wish to use the Garden's setting as the background for formal, posed photography/videography. This would include wedding, family, engagement, prom, graduation photography/videography, or similar.

I live just a couple blocks down the road from CBG. I have been there umpteen number of times and have never been disappointed. They keep changing the flowers, arrangements etc. so everytime you go there you feel like as if it is your first time visiting it. Especially the green house, orchid house, cactus house are just awesome.
And NO. you do not need any photography permit. In fact the entry is free, you just have to pay for parking.
