This tiny fly was hiding in the shadows and I thought 'I bet an example has never been shown on UKNP before', so here it is, I stand to be corrected.

I would prefer the insect a bit larger in the frame as it does look a little lost at present, but a striking image nevertheless.

Hi David
Works for me - I would disagree with Matt as I think being quite small in the frame helps to emphasise how small the insect is. I know you like your black BG but I would prefer a little colour/detail in the black areas!
Very different David. It is growing on me the more I look at it. Really like the detail on the leaves framing the black background. Not sure about the thorny branch bottom right as it seems to draw my eye. Very nice though.

Love the composition here and the light on the sublect is very nice, well done David
As a matter of interest where is the blue tinge on the leaves coming from ?

Thanks for your comments, folks. I always strive to present a different take on things if I can.
Tom, I only took one shot.
Ian, this the exception that proves the rule. As David picked up I kept it small in the frame to emphasise its tiny size. As to the blue tinge, all I can think it is, is the reflection of the blue sky off the wet leaves.

I like this - I like the smallness of the insect and the space surrounding it. A nice composition.
