Matt, thanks for the perfect directions to the JL sites. Sunrise Friday was a cloud-out, but Thursday night there was some color, if only for a few minutes. It reminded me of the Dead line from Blues for Allah, "The sun went down in honey..."

I should have mentioned, I have no idea what the "fire" is in the woods under the sun, but I didn't start it, and I definitely did not PS it.
Looks like you had a nice sunset. Nice frame with the trees. Was this taken from the cliffs area south of the causeway?
Sorry you didn't have luck with sunrise. Did you run across all the GBH and egrets at the northern end of the lake? They are going crazy with the low water right now. I can only imagine that it makes their hunting a LOT easier!

Thanks, Matt. This was from behind the Park Admin bldg on 64.
I saw several wading birds in the lake on the (I think) east side of 751. They're beautiful, but we have plenty of them here, so I was more after the landscapes. I have a few birds in my Wetlands and Flight Shots galleries.
Do these same places get good with Fall color if/when the leaves turn?
Great color, Lance and I like the strong verticals created by the tree trunks. It's really difficult to parachute into an unknown place for a day and come away with nice images. Looks like you did.

Lance,
Fitting quote for the lovely colors. I like the arrangement of the tree trunks. I think the reflection and smoke are neat elements also.
