More rocks and stuff!
I was thinking about possibly reshooting this rock formation and wanted to see how others responded to it before I did. Maybe change the comp or dress it up a little more?

As always, any comments, suggestions or critiques are always welcomed.

Cheers!

For me, the abstract portion of this is fantastic - by that I mean a square crop of the top. Now, what I like most, is abstracts where there's a few clues as to what it is, just so the viewer doesn't get lost in the question, "what is that?!". That was one of the reasons I liked the corner of sand in your previous image, and the snails. A square crop of the top here is super in an abstract sense, but loses the connection to the beach of the lower half... finding a balance is really hard! Of course, those are purely personal preferences  This is making me want to head down there again...

I like the curves, Eric, The chunkier rock in the FG seems a little out of balance to me. The color and textures are great!

Is this at Corona Del Mar? I'd have a ball with a 4x5 there! I used to body surf there, and at the Wedge (Yikes!) when I was in high school.

Eric, really another nice capture from this same area as your previous image, I would assume? Regardless, it is very nice indeed. Although I see the crop working here too, I do find this an interesting comp as is with the arrangement almost looking like an old native American chief's bonnet fanned out.

This is a beautiful abstract, Eric! You have great colors and wonderful diagonal lines.
An anchor for me is the blue stone in the bottom LC. In the white rock in the middle
right the crisscrossing lines are also a nice plus.

I like the connection to the beach and sea. Great texture and colors. I agree with the others that if a more abstract pic is your goal that a crop of just the top would work great. Either way I love it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I wasn't really sure how I wanted to capture this, but I was fascinated with the fanned out spines of that different colored rock and wanted to make that a main focus.

Paul, I like that Chief bonnet connection... that describes it the feeling of that rock really nice. I may just have to use (steal) that name if I keep this image.

Preston, Yep it's Corona del Mar just south of the Wedge. Someone just died there during those big waves a few weeks back. The way those waves bounce off that jetty and merge with another incoming wave can make for some harrowing rides. Yeah, you guys with 4x5's would love the exposed rock in CDM... especially now that the recent tides have pulled a lot of the sand off the shoreline rocks.

I like the texture in the sand and how colorful it is, even that tiny little urchant but definitely feel that the lines are the main attraction here.

Another feast for the eye Eric. I can see all sorts of crops that would work for me - off the top, crop of just the top, etc...not necessarily improvements, but just change the image entirely. Lots to work with, and lots to enjoy in this image.
