I am starting to play with stitching together several images to make a high res comp. I set the camera as well as the focus to manual, so nothing changes in the 30 seconds or so it takes to collect the images. However, on some comps, I have a diagonal line where one segment is darker than the adjacent. Other times it appears a wrinkle appears in the image. What causes these defects are what is the cure. Thanks for any info.

Are you using a polarizer? I've had that happen to me a couple of times.

A diagonal line? Interesting.
Are you using a wide angle lens? Can you post a sample?

As an aside, you want to ensure that you're not using automatic white balance, but a preset such as daylight, etc.

Do you have enough overlap in each image? The wider the more the overlap especially the closer the foreground is. Every now and then I do get a problem image that will stich but with one error.

If your noise reduction is turned on and you're shooting at dusk or dawn that could be too long inbetween exposures. If you have them open all in front try to match them up exposure wise by lighting or darkening. Good luck!

What software are you using? I used to get problems with blending between segments, but they all but went away with CS3, and CS4 seems even better.
