Firstly, many thanks for ALL the comments on my previous post, however I fear this may not get quite the same response, as it probably is a 'Love/Hate it' image?
The image was shot portrait, but I guess the subject is too central within the frame, however, IF, there are any ways to improve it ie cropping etc I would be most eager to hear. I left the sprouting heather in, as I felt it add something?

Nice but not sure of the grouse pose, it looks slighty uncomfortable but like the flowering heather for background (something I missed when in Scotland).

I like that very much Stephen and personally I would crop a little off the right of the picture, just so that he was looking into the frame. Eric

Not as strong as your previous post and compositionally a bit central but overall it still works for me. However, it does look like the bird has just gulped as though looking down the barrel of a gun rather than your camera.. LOL!
My comments exactly guys, hence my covering note. More startled I guess Brett, as a crack of thunder came from above following by ten minutes of hail! English weather hey

I like this because the grouse is smaller in the frame and almost hidden from view which works very well IMO,and in portrait format the bird in the centre works for me
Gosh that is purple... and all the better for it...

Love the image. Might just try cloning out the tallest LH stalk of heather that's in focus as for me personally it competes a bit too much for attention.

Funnily enough I prefer this one to the last! Agree with Duncan re the LH stalk, but this is a really attractive image.

The question is based on the suggested CC rotaion, can I assume it is only about 3-5 degrees if that?
Cheers, time to put the sunglasses back on
