Hi, I've just recently picked up the hobby of bird photography. I have been photography in the Mead Wildlife Area and have enjoyed being out there. I'm looking for some suggestions on other good places to get photos of birds in Wisconsin. Anybody been to the Trempealeau, Horicon, or Necedah wildlife refuges?
Thanks everyone

I've been to Horicon half a dozen times. When it's active, it's spectacular, but it can be pretty quiet. I don't pretend to understand the whens or the whys. Old Marsh Road, especially the west end, can be very good. I got a couple of lifers there...

Clayton, the refuges you mentioned are all good. Also, shorebird migration is going on now, and I'd suggest you look into some locations along the south shore of Lake Superior or the west shore of Lake Michigan. There are some wonderful images to be made there with the sand/lake/sky as part of the setting.

I too recommend the shore along Lake Superior. Never know what you'll see there! Lot's of public areas with good access.
