hi all,
Following my last post about common species I took this image a few weeks back after thinking it was crazy that I did not have any Robin images. This little chap was really tame and kept flying upto within a metre of me making it really difficult to focus on him using a 400mm prime. Crazy how the most common species can be overlooked especially something easy to get images of.
C&C welcome.

sorry wrong image was meant to show cropped version.
I actually prefer the first one Ben with the bird having a bit more room, although its a bit too central composition-wise. I agree the Robin is overlooked sometimes in favour of images of more 'exotic' species but its still the one everyone loves and wants on their cards at Christmas!

I prefer the second, surprise, surprise. I also like the central composition. I am something of an iconoclast, however.
Very nice indeed.

Love both, but the first needs a tad cropped off the RHS,giving the robin more room to look into, and the second is a beautiful portrait image that needs nothing doing to it great detail in both, very nice image
I like both images but the first just edges it for me. I agree with Craig that a crop is necessary to move the bird off centre.
I share your view that common species make worthy subjects - interestingly, one of the judges from this year's BBC WPOY competition told me there was a big hole in the submission of commoner bird species.
Hi ben, like the first one most. Although a little cropping from the right would be an approvement.
Second is a nice protrait.

Hi Ben, very nice, agree that it needs moving a tadge to the side. I must admit a robin on a lichen stump does seem odd, wish I had posts like that in my garden. Robins do make fantastic subjects and a robin singing is one the the best UK spring images to be seen-taken
