Thanks to the day job and the weather I haven't been out with the Grouse as much as I'd like. However, here's one from a few weeks back, before the sound of guns rang across the moors. I always like it when the Cock Grouse flash an eyebrow (they aren't too prominent at the moment now the breeding season is over although they soon inflate them if another male gets too close).

Thanks for the info about the eyebrow, you learn something new everyday on UKNP.
Classic grouse image, Very nice indeed.

Yeah nice info. I guess that explains why I was not seeing many flashes a few weeks back. I guess thats a lesson for me the more you can learn about a subject the better the photographer and resultant image.
Lovely image.

very nice Simon, classic pose and the purple behind the grouse is excellent
All these grouse images are killing me - never seen one!! Nice composition, not sure if it maybe needs a little boost in colour or contrast (or maybe just a touch darker)?
Thanks Ian, I've tried to keep this one fairly accurate in terms of the colour. It was taken a few weeks back before the heather was in its prime. It was also taken in overcast conditions which means that the heather did not have that glow seen in recent images on here.
