Taken last year when I first got into bird photography, hence the budget 75-300 being used and no tripod.

The light had just gone but this guy was determined to find a meal, I really like the wing blur but the lack of detail in the face is a bit annoying. Any thoughts appreciated.

If I was you I would use it as my avatar for UKNP. I like the near symmetry of the wing blur.
Very nice.

I actually like it but would like to see a mono version, high contrast, and perhaps a square crop, the lack of any detail will then not matter....

Liam, it's excellent as is! Compositionally, the position of the bird is fine and area at the right hand side of the bird's head is great - just giving you a hint of its shape.

I really like it.

lovely idea, pose and composition are great, agree with Phil that B+W might work well

Thanks for the comments, I realise its not perfect and I would defiantly want to have another go but getting the opportunity can prove difficult.

Anyway here is a black and white version with the contrast boosted...
