More photos from the San Juans. Before posting images from Clear Lake, here are a couple from the previous sunset I spent at Little Molas Lake. Another photographer and I were waiting in our vehicles for a storm to pass in the parking lot by the lake. When it passed, we both ran to the shoreline and started shooting this rainbow. The wind kicked up and we just missed a perfect reflection, but for a few minutes the rainbow and light were really nice. After shooting a few frames, I talked to the other photographer and found out he was Todd Caudle. Small world!

More clouds prevented better light than the above image for sunset, but Todd and I stayed to see if we could capture any second light. Here's one post-sunset with some mist starting to form over the lake.

That night I drove to Clear Lake and slept there. The next morning I captured this image along the shore. This is the same one as the ESS image. but edited a bit darker than the first post.

Great set of images Joshua. Really like #1 and #4, but my favorite is #5 the reflection image, I bet that would look great printed big.

Nice collection of images, Josh. Nice catch on the rainbow -- I also really like the first couple from Clear Lake. The first one is especially nice with the great color, though the second is right there as well. Reminds me that I need to get back up there myself.

Good stuff, Maestro! The Clear Lake shots strike me as a bit over-saturated, but who cares?!
What you didn't mention is that we would've had a perfectly glassy lake surface if I hadn't scared off five ducks when I ran to the shore. The wind came moments later.

Yea, the first two Clear Lake images are scans from Velvia, I was using the 35mm to get a wider view since I don't have a full-frame digital yet, they're running a little more saturated than the ones from the D300. Here's a final bonus image from the Clear Lake road looking toward Ice Lake Basin. The last set of San Juan images are coming next week. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for posting that last one! Different view of those peaks that I've seen in a lot of shots. Got to get up there some day instead of cruising by on 550. The others are all beauties as well, though the yellow light in #4 makes me want sunglasses.

What a remarkable series!
And you certainly know how to lead 'em off properly. I just love that rainbow over the lake!
I still have issues with the bright shadows (and resultant lack of contrast) and the slight oversaturation of your Clear Lake work, but this is undeniably a beautiful image.
No such quibbles with #4, which is easily my favorite of the series! Simply outstanding in every regard.
Cool reflection, and a Levels adjustment would introduce some contrast that would be an asset IMO.
All in all, you came away with some excellent images from this foray! As an aside, none of these images have a color space embedded. They would look much better on monitors everywhere with the sRGB color space attached.
Really inspiring work Joshua, I really need to get out and explore some new places. These are all great, I can't say that I favor one over the rest.

I really like the first Clear Lake shot...amazing color and comp! The last shot is way cool too! The first Little Molas lake is nice...I'm hoping to shoot that again in OCT.

Another killer summer set. The last one really stands out for me ... not the common view. Maybe crop the red off the left edge? #4 is Velvia too?

Joshua,
Wow! Those are gorgeous! The lighting is incredible. I can't wait to explore this area. My favorites are # 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7. LOL. Hard to choose from all of these great images. Nice work.
Great stuff, Josh! I especially like the first and the last ones, that lead-off shot is killer!

Way to wait out the storm for shot #1. Very cool. I'm also really diggin the light in #4 at Clear Lake. You really had a productive trip to the San Juans this summer. Congrats!

Stunning images! Love the light and the rainbow in the first image. Also like the stitched reflection. Very artistic.
These shots are all amazing but #1 with the rainbow is outstanding. The color and lightning on the mountains is great, and then to add a rainbow just makes the image sing.
