I initially signed up with blogspot, but was unhappy with the templates and what I could do so switched to wordpress. It has more flexibility and more templates. I also like the stats it keeps. So far I've been happy with it. Now if I could just get people to visit
I also have wordpress, I like that I can integrate the postings to twitter, facebook, and if I wanted, flickr into the blog. Lots of possibilities. And tons of themes.

Definitely Wordpress, and if you can, host it yourself - that combination will give you much more flexibility and control.

I started off on Blogger in 2004, but switched to WordPress earlier this year and have to say that WP is so much better for usability and generating organic traffic.

I've been using Blogger for several years. It is easy to post to. The templates are a bit limiting but the thing that I don't like most is the lack of stats. Unless someone posts a comment I feel like I'm talking to myself. Most people just read, they don't respond.

I'm very happy with Wordpress. You can start out with their canned layouts but if you want to get really creative, you can make your own. Look at Guy Tal's.

Wordpress for me as well - better control of my images; good stats. I too started with one at Blogger but didn't like the way my images were handled there.

The only drawback at Wordpress is that it only accepts images to about 690px, which means yet another resize from photos we post here. Maybe it's the template I chose. It's an inconvenience, but for me the benefits outweigh that inconvenience.

I'm using Blogspot and for the time being, I'm pretty happy with it. I like clean and simple so I've had no problems with Blogspot's templates and have been able to mimic the look of my website on it.
My only general suggestion is to make sure you add tags to your posts because that's what will drive people to it. This month has been my best month ever and its due to using tags (and a popular topic of course!).
I just started using Blogspot yesterday. So far so good but you are limited. I also looked into wordpress and it seems to be the thing to do but a little labour involved during the installation. Once I read what had to be done i couldn't be bothered.

I actually have Blogs on both. If you use Wordpress and have Wordpress.org host it (free), you cannot put "adsense" type advertising links on it (e.g., "monetize" it). I thought I wanted to do that, so I moved my Blog to blogger. Atfter almost a year of blogging, I haven't made $1 from any of the "adsense" links--and am not realizing that probably wasn't a very important issue. I do like Wordpress -- it does seem to handle images better. However, I think the text editor in Blogger is (marginally) better. They both kind of suck. If you are willing to pay to host it yourself, then you have the best of both worlds with Wordpress.
