Hello, I have an Epsom R320 printer that has started to print off very dark images. Until yesterday it had always been fine & produced a print that was almost what was on the monitor.
people on this forum often mention calibrated screens or printers, is this somthing that can be done at home?

Any help appreciated.

Monitor calibration is something that you would certainly do at home and on a regular basis too, such as every two to four weeks. You need to buy one of the many hardware calibrators currently available.
Printer profiles can be done at home, but the high end equipment often used to produce them would set you back a lot of money, i.e. £1K upwards.
There are cheaper printer profiling, do-it-yourself kits for considerably less, how accurate these would be, I don't know, personally I'd be sceptical.
You can have custom printer profiles made using the top end Gretag Macbeth equipment for as little as £15 per profile if you shop around. That would be my choice if I wanted a greater degree of accuracy over what the manufacturers free generic profiles provided.

Sorry I can't help with why your prints are suddenly coming out darker.
Try doing a system restore in case something has changed that your not aware of, it happens from time to time.

Hello Lee.

Click on the Green Start button bottom ln the left corner of your screen. Now select All Programs and find Accessories. Click on this and you will find System Tools in there at the bottom you will find System restore. Find a date before the problem started.

If this does not work you could try and remove the printer software, and then put it back on again.

If this does not work you will need to go down the calibration route.

Hope this helps and gets it sorted.

Hi Lee,

Guy has beaten me to it regarding the system restore instructions. Good luck and I hope it solves the problem.
