I just got a call from Germany about using one of my pics (The kissing baby Orangutan)for there magazine. Says they pay 3-400 per pic. Has anybody ever been contacted by these people and gone thru with publishing with payment?? They want my high resolution pic but they don't work with contracts? sooo ??? Where do I go from here? She said to send an invoice sounds fishy to me. Heres the company info: Heinrich Bauer Programmzeitschriftenverlag KGPhotoeditortv hören & sehen/TV14/welt der wunderMaren HauptBurchardstr.1120095 Hamburg Thankyou
I was hesitant as well, but payment was received from them. They wanted my account info for a wire transfer, but somehow I still got a check in the mail. I used an account that had little in it in case it was a scam. I emailed an invoice as well as a rights contract. So, I say go for it.
We have had a fair number of magazines want an invoice. We include a delivery memo on the invoice, our accountant and lawyer assuring us that if they pay the invoice with those terms included, you've got a very strong case if they abuse the agreement. I haven't dealt with this particular mag, but I wouldn't hesitate to send an invoice. The only thing that rings bells is Paul's noted request for account info. I'd ask for their credit card number instead so I can process the payment that way.

I've never dealt with this magazine but an invoice and no contract is pretty typical. I'ld go for it without handing out your personal account information. Terrific image, BTW. I can see why they would want to use it.
Just an update on this. I recieved comfirmation on the printing and saw the layout. It's all in German, pretty cool.So Now I wait for the payment and I trust it will come. Thank you for encouraging me to go for it.
Thanks everybody for the great feedback. As I said I followed thru with this and am happy to say I just recieved a wire transfer for the money for the image. How cool it is... sooo start submitting that great work!
