Tony's dotterel was proving popular at Sandwich, largely ignoring the antics of everyone sun-bathing on the beach. Just to be different to Tony, this one was taken during a rare bit of movement from the bird. Ideally the head would have been turned around a bit more to avoid the shadow from the beak but I did get a number of portraits like that. This was only the second outing for my new lens so pretty happy, despite ruined knees and elbows in the shingle.

What a great pose! F8 worked well for depth of field on the bird, although perhaps a larger aperture would have softened the background more - difficult choice. Welcome! Look forward to seeing more.

Some harsh light controlled very well, not sure about the inclusion of the discarded fishing tackle, I might have cloned that out. Good action captured. Sounds like it was a complete circus down there..! Glad I was otherwise engaged over the weekend..

The pose works a treat, as does the low, intimate shooting angle.
Enjoy your new lens and welcome to the forum.
