I was whipped after three days of climbing in the S Coloney area but had it in me for one more sunrise from the south slopes of Humboldt Peak. I have a few slightly different perspectives of the Needle that I want to share and get your thoughts.

I sold my Tokina 11-16 about a year ago and bought a good pano head for going unlimited wide.

Here's the first one-

Yowza! Glad you decided to shoot too! Very nice, and I love the ever so slight touch of orange glow at the waters edge!

Awesome -- love the perspective and you captured some very nice light. Well worth all the climbing, I would say.

Keep 'em coming, Kane! The first one's a killer.

Beautiful!
Great composition, too.

Here's a second shot, a few minutes away from the first shot. This image shows both the lower and upper South Colony Lake.

Nice stuff. I really like #1.

Both are nice but #1 is insanely awesome. I love the perspective with the curving FG, sweet light and nice sky.

These are beauties, Kane! The addition of the second lake in #2 is sweet, but I too like the light and the in-the-gully feeling of the first one. Keep 'em coming!

Excellent all around.

I'd say that pano head was worth it. Truly unique perspective, which really enhances some great morning light.

Nice shot Kane, but you've reminded me of a solo climb I took up the Needle that scared me in a couple places. In one instance, I was carefully edging my way along a narrow ledge, hugging the cliff face, and met a mountain goat working its way the other direction! Neither of us saw the other until we were maybe six feet apart. We both nearly jumped off that ledge!

Keep those shots coming!

That first shot is KILLER!!! Besides the obvious good stuff like the light and unique perspective, I also love your foreground selection and the way it balances the scene in the "bowl". Very nice.

Yeah, #1 is amazing. I have already looked at it on several occasions since you posted it. Thanks for sharing.

By the way, I was at South Colony lakes last weekend, and it was crazy. There were so many people that it was difficult to find parking and camping spots. I guess the road is going to be closed soon, so people are taking advantage of the road.
