Here is the Canon press release for the 100mm f/2.8L IS macro lens, scheduled to be available at the end of September for $1049 retail (photo).

Thanks for posting this. Not sure if I should be mad cause I purchased the non IS. But this one costs twice as much... :frown:

Does anyone know whether the new "L" class 100mm macro will be compatible with Canon's 1.4X teleconverter?

The 1.4X teleconverter is not compatible with the current 100mm f/2.8 macro. So my educated guess would be that it wouldn't be compatible with the new 100mm f/2.8L IS macro either.

Canon says the 1.4 TC isn't compatible with L primes below 135mm. Maybe that will change with this lens. Maybe not.
