Filey Brigg offers a great chance to get to the eye level of waders. In summer Knot return from their northern breeding grounds in very dapper plumage and it is a joy to watch them each year when they stop for a short time.

Hi Marcus

As you said nice plumage - good low POV giving a great BG!

A very nice image and they really are lovely birds in their summer plumage.
Excellent shooting angle and the warmly coloured surroundings complement the birds plumage perfectly.

Thanks guys . On my monitor there are some artefacts around the top of the knot when posted here in the forum. I'll have to look at the compression for the next one :toast:

It's only 30 kb's in size which explains the artefacts. Best to make use of the maximum size allowed of 200 kb's.

Thanks Justin. I know what to do next time.

Very pleasing image, great plumage on these birds, not been to filey brigg but might look into it for the winter and next year.

The artifacts around the bird are what I call snail trails, its what you get around sharp edges when you use too much jpeg compression, if you use the "save as" option instead of "save for web" it will leave in your exif data, you should not really go below a setting of 7 or 8 when saving. :toast:

Still looks good as it is and I hadn't even noticed the artefacts untill you mentioned them, and only then, when sitting much closer to the screen.

Nice - I don't think I have ever seen one in this plumage.

Nice the colours are great... I realise it was on a slope, I just wonder what it would look like if it was 'straightend a little?
