This was taken today?
Yes, it is another of those impatient young 'uns that has not been "seasoned", pun intended, and that just can't wait for the others. This was taken on the road from Idaho Springs to Mt. Evans at the curve where Chicago Creek campground takes off. This really isn't for critiquing, just an example of what's happening in some places. Also, some of the aspens along that road are already turning brown. Hope the leaf blight isn' bad everywhere this year. :frown:

Sorry, but I'm critiquing this Morris. One of the finest aspen photographs I've seen in awhile! No joke, I absolutely love your artful take on this scene. Exquisite. Anyway, back to regular programming ...

I have to agree with Jesse! This is excellent! Did you take it at night and spot-light the trees? Or was this just selective dodging and burning in PS? Either way--it rocks! :toast:

Wow, I will take both of those comments in a heartbeat. Thank you very much, Jesse.
And also Phillip! And this was a curves and levels adjustment of an underexposed shot with some burning of the background to try to isolate the tree.

I agree with Jesse and Phillip: A very evocative aspen image!

Awesome shot Morris. This NEEDS to be posted in flora - maybe even for the 'Unflowers' theme in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, this is so much more than a documentary shot. It kinda reminds me of that classic Ansel Adams shot of the lone aspen in front of the rock wall. Steve pegged it with the word "evocative."

I have to chime in too and agree with everything that's been said. This is a stunningly beautiful image and has "Weekly Pick" written all over it. It would certainly be a strong contender in the flora gallery. I wish I had taken it.

You might as well pack your gear back into the closet for next year, aspen season has been great for you this year!

Beautifl aspen shot, love the simplicity and the background detail.

I like it too. Nice stuff, Morris.

I hope it is okay for a Cali guy to chime in. I was scouting for some early fall color reports and looks like I found one. I will be out your way in 3 or 4 weeks.

Thanks again to all who posted a comment. I sure didn't expect this response.

I''ll shoot you an e-mail, Harley to find out when and where you are going to be. Maybe we can shoot together.

I agree with Aleks.... you are done for this year dude! Agree with the others... excellent isolation of the Aspen and good shadow detail in the background. This really pops Morris!
