Something a tad different

One of the things I have been doing this year is getting out and exploring areas which I have never frequented, not so much straight up Nature Photography but well...kind of a mix of Nature photography meets Travel photography meets rural lifestyle photography. Needless to say I think this has taught me to see things in a different light when it comes to shooting, which, IMO, is always good as it exhibits growth.

So I thought that I would share a few shots with you all this AM of what I have been up to. This one below is HDR...3 exposures blended manually and also in Photomatix. A lerger version can be seen here http://jdebordphoto.zenfolio.com/img/v0/p1035144417.jpg

Some other shots I have taken that kind of exhibit what I mentioned above:

* This country side of a farm really caught my eye in rural Boulder Country, and the "Hay For Sale" sign I intentionally left in as I felt as though it gave it some extra "punch" with meaning http://jdebordphoto.zenfolio.com/img/v0/p511043812.jpg

* Yeah I know kind of cliche with the dirt road and hills, but I like how the scene is almost ironic in a sense with the dirt road (old technology) meets the high tech of the Wind Farm http://jdebordphoto.zenfolio.com/img/v1/p820450311.jpg

* Captured in the town of Como, I wanted a shot that kind of represented what it felt like there, hence the muted color...and the forgotten wagon http://jdebordphoto.zenfolio.com/img/v0/p706681835.jpg

Anyways that is what I have been up to this year, trying something new and different, how about you all?

Wow, those are all fantastic, John! I esp. like the one posted here. The windmill/road shot is one of the coolest modern windmill shots I've seen. Great stuff!

John, good stuff. Where was the windmill shot taken at?

The windmill shot was out at the Wind Farm by Pawnee National Grasslands

Number 1 is really nice! I like the HDR treatment...not overdone. I like the others but that first one is a "10".

All are great, but especially the one posted here - really nice. Good work!

Good for you John. I've been trying a bit of the same up here in Montana, the rural subject matter. Hard not to. Anyway, I've been enjoying your art on Facebook.

The first image is my favorite too. I also love the color on the "hay for sale" shot, but the sky highlights still appear a little bright for my taste. Awesome windmill shot too, the vignetting is very effective IMO.

Nice work John! They are all very cool, but the first is my favorite. Love the mood in the images! Thanks for sharing.

Another fan of #1. Great use of HDR there.
I like the windmills shot because it looks almost apocalyptic and makes me stop and think.
Kudos for trying out new techniques and visions!

I am another one who really likes #1, and as Todd said, the windmill shot is cool too. Nice work.

The barn shot posted here is simply jaw-dropping gorgeous! :toast: :toast:

I'll bet the owner would love a print of it!

Wow that barn shot is amazing. I really like the wind farm one as well. The one with the hay, the sky highlights are really blown out on my screen.

Love the detail in the barn and the dark sky. Like the contrast in the image as well.
