Sand Dunes...Not White this time but Great

So after spending a couple of days in White Sands last month, I had the urge to visit the Great Sand Dunes yesterday. I was hoping to capture some great light (was thinking red with the smoke in the air) but had mostly cloudy skies with a few breaks. I took advantage of the light and came away with these. Here are just a few that I've looked at so far.... Looking forward to camping there again

#1: Looking due south while hiking to the top of the High Dune. That illuminated white area on the crest is blowing sand.

Nice collection of images, but that first one is exquisite Michael. I was there Tuesday afternoon and had nothing but wind and overcast skies, glad to see you had some nice light.

I like 1 and 4...nice light and comps.

Another vote for #'s 1 & 4.
I sure enjoy tight compositions that concentrate on the sensuous nature of this place, and those really fit that bill.

#1 - Mmmmmm, nice! Love the colors and tones. Great composition.

I agree, #1 and 4 are the best of the group and ought to be framed. #2 seems oversharpened, but potentially nice texture and comp. #3 seems to have too much negative space in the foreground - you might try cropping upwards? The rest don't really grab me. Sounds like you had fun out there. You certainly found some good light!

Nice work, the patterns of #2 definitely draw my eyes throughout the image. Nice composition on #1 but I think it could use a little more contrast.
