I just saw this news story, it might not bode well for our yearly fall colors.....

Yep, ive noticed for quite some time now that our forests are in serious trouble. Its very frustrating since there is so little that can be done. Hopefully ma nature will defy the odds, cause the trend has been pretty scary right now.

Well, maybe something else beautiful and unusual will come out of it

Depressing for sure....but I pray that, as Laurent said, other beautiful things will result. Nature always seems to heal itself.

I drove up to Buffalo Pass yesterday, past several of my favorite aspen stands for fall color and was dismayed to see several large pockets of trees with leaf mold---now turning a faded green and all those leaves will be gone by the time the healthy trees turn to gold. Not sure if it's climate change or SAD or the result of a very wet spring and early summer, but whatever it is has affected a number of trees in this area.

This is pretty sad, hopefully it will just change the forests, not destroy them. I'm glad I get to see them now at least.
