A suggestion: ONLY PHOTOS TAKEN WITHIN THE RMNP REGION WILL BE ELIGIBLE!
Not that I feel strongly about it or anything...
Thoughts?

Don't forget, fall for southern arizona doesn't even start till the end of october and lasts sometimes into december. just a little out of sync with you colorado elitists

careful now...Erik may think RMNP is his "RMNP" and he wouldn't let us in!

Erik would let us in. But only on perfectly clear days and between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm.

Since "Fall" covers the period from Sept till December farther south, I suggest that we run
two separate contests One that runs say Sept &October, the next that runs November
thru December. You could enter one contest or both.

I've thought the time period and other details of the contest have worked out great in the past. But agree that photos taken out of the Rocky Mountain region should not be eligible.

Another issue that should be clarified up front is whether images previously posted here at RMNP (or another locale like ESS) can be submitted to the contest. Those images would no longer be strictly "anonymous" since many of the folks voting and submitting entries regularly check these forums. One could argue that by getting critique on a photo posted here from the very people who are voting in the contest, that compromises the whole "anonymous" idea. Personally, Id rather see it either non-anonymous, or a rule of no prior posting on NPN. Not a huge deal, but I think at tleast the rule should be clear up front.

Stan, I thought one of the rules in the past was that the photo had to be of this season's fall colors. In this case taken in the fall of 2009. That would mostly eliminate your concern about previously posted images being submitted.

I dont see that--most fall photos are posted shortly after theyre taken, so in September and October, the contest is in November, so all the recently posted shots show up in the contest--at tleast some of them did last year.

Stan, Well I thought your concern was for fall photos taken in years past. Thats why I said I thought it would "mostly eliminate" your concern. Also I thought the final voting was in November and that the images were to be submitted throughout the 4-6 weeks before the voting. Also, maybe folks who both want a critique of their fall image and want to submit to the contest can just post their image in the Anonymous Photo Critique Gallery. Also maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill with this.
