..by nature, this wasp has taken advantage of what a blackbird has started. I can't be too hard on it as wasps have given me great pleasure (and some pain- two stings ) this year photographing them. Not much rain yesterday but quite strong winds which kept shaking the pear tree.
{100 views and no comments (until David's) - I thought this was supposed to be a critique forum. Is it good, bad or indifferent? It would be nice to have at least one person give me an indication of what they felt, when viewing the image. There are sights in Nature that are not too
pleasant to view, and I suppose that if you are a vegetarian, a pear lover and wasp hater then this image could be one of them. So come on be frank - I can take it. }

Hi David
Looks a bit messy but I quite like it as the image is very much as you would see it and I like the fact that wasp is right inside the pear!

Thanks David for commenting. Your reaction was just what I was trying to achieve. I feel it was worthwhile posting .
You just need to be patient David . Your image wouldn't have gone un-noticed or un-commented on. Saturday is always a slow day on the forum, people are probably making the most of the decent weather.
A good record shot of an important aspect of a wasp's life.

great minds think alike David, I've also been photographing wasps eating windfall pears. I find the wasps will pose nicely for you when they're busy eating the fruit.
I like this one. I've yet to see a wasp right inside the pear like this so it is an unusual view. The details and exposure look good but can I detect a slight blue/purple tinge on certain parts (e.g. the reflection on the eye)?
By the way, I think I once reached 130 views for 1 comment so we've all been there.

interesting image, like the colours but like David says a bit messy
i get why a pear-lover or wasp-hater might not like it but why not a vegetarian?

Yuck! Better than finding half of one in your apple/pear I guess

Hi David,
I am sorry but I am not too keen on this one
Its a bit messy and the wasp dont look too sharp and not too keen on the bottom left hand corner as its too bright.
Sharp image of the wasp David. I just wonder why they were put on this earth. They seem to have no purpose whatsoever other than to sting people. Recently I have had to stop putting out apples and raisins for the Blackbirds because these nasty with beggars swarm all over them, get drunk and then are more dangerous than ever.

Sounds like some town centres on a Friday and Saturday night ,Maggie . Seriously though they fill a niche, and that is it I suppose. I must admit I find them very interesting and wouldn't be without them in my garden. Blackbirds are a pain IMHO pecking at my pears and apples, pinching my blueberries etc etc, but again I wouldn't be without them.
Jack, vegetarians eat pears I suppose so it might offend some people to see such a scene.
Thanks for commenting folks.

Not to everyone's taste I guess David, as it happens I quite like it, though you wouldn't get me this close to a wasp in a month of Sundays.

Like the picture, but it looks a little messy and not that sharp.
