I've finally got around to editing my shots from the trip with Jack to Great Sand Dunes NP. I had a great time shooting but like Jack had a couple problems of my own. When I first started shooting my D200 was way overexposing in matrix metering mode so I switched to center-weighted priority with -1.3 ev; that seemed to fix my exposures. The other part was just plain stupidity on my part. I wore shorts because it was hot out but forgot how hard the sand could blow; at some points it ended up sandblasting off some of my leg hair and it hurt quite a bit too. It was worth it though for the images I got! This is one of my favorite shots, here's a link to the rest of the gallery. C&C welcome. The Light and Texture of Great Sand Dunes NP

I love this image, nicely done. Really interesting how the sight lines keep the eye in the frame, even at the top. :toast:

Nice set of images, Jason! I'm glad you came away without too much skin off your legs.

Beautiful B&W, very nice.

This is sweet, but "Light and Dark" on your site is my fav. Great stuff all around!
BTW, a quick comment about your site; I don't like that the thumbnails show a cropped image. One has to click through every image to really see everything. In this case it was quite enjoyable, but I don't think it does the images justice.

Truly a nice collection! The interplay of light, lines, and shadows are very well done and quite nice on the eye.

A fine series! This is the type of dune photography I enjoy best.
My favorites are also 'The Suns Last Line' and 'Yin & Yang'.

Excellent work and vision displayed here Jason! Yes it gets very windy at the Dunes. I was there a few months back was not going to risk lenses or skin to the sand gods so never ventured into the dune field.

Very well captured! Could almost feel the sand stinging my flesh as I viewed your images.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! I'm really glad everyone enjoyed my images.

@Paul Wegemann: I've thought about changing the thumbnail layout before but found a problem when I use the original sizing; I take panoramas fairly often and they can sometimes take up a whole row. I took your advice and changed this gallery though, thanks!

@Jack Garret: I'll save some of good shots for you next time  Actually, I'm pretty sure you got some good ones as well, we just need to edit them.

Jason, I like the thumbnails much better the new way. Gives me a much better idea what the image will look like before I open it.

Wonderful series! I really appreciate the b/w treatments. I love the combo of the lines and blowing sand in the image posted here.
