Impressive animal. Ready for the big fighting in about a week. The deer are still quite relaxed but you can see the anger and agression in their eyes.

A fine portrait Edwin, impressive looking antlers too.

Another nice shot Edwin. However the foreground vegetation is a little unbalanced and that drags my eye a bit. Does it allow enough room for virtual feet..? Otherwise the capture of the magnificent antlers and the detail including the flies is really very nice. I can see we are going to have some really nice stuff from you over the coming months..

I'd be angry with those flies biting me too. Majestic shot Edwin :toast:

A cracker! I agree about the virtual feet, but I hope to have a go at these this year and will be ecstatic if I get anything half as good as this.

Great symmetry in the subject Ed, and the foreground doesn't bother me at all; the lack of room for virtual feet does stand out though.

Hi Edwin i love the deer shots you have posted recently, that soft lighting makes all the difference

:toast: :toast:

Ths really captures the beastie nicely and the low viewpoint makes it look dominant, I can't wait to get some shots of the rut next month

Agree it does appear to need some more at the bottom or maybe a tighter crop? but a great looking image anyways.....

Thanks guys. I know about the virual legs but I had to act very quickly. This deer was walking towards me and with the 600/4 there's no chance of zooming out as I'm used to do with the 200-400/4. But still quite pleased with this one.

cheers,
