As Bill mentioned he and I met this morning for sunrise at Sprague Lake. Been so long since I've been out shooting, it felt good to dust off the 5Dmkii - just hate it when the day job gets in the way of photography!.
Surprisingly for a holiday weekend there wasn't too many photographers out at Sprague lake, a handful more when we were shooting Elk, but still not too bad. The Elk are coming down into Moraine park now, and bugling, this is new since last weekend according to Bill.
Here's my selection from this morning to accompany Bill's great Coyote images.

Nice shots! That first one of sprague has some NEON pink [edit: looks more red than pink--don't know what I was thinkin'] trees in there! The trees in the second two look more natural. Great comp on #1! Fix those flaming trees and you've got a winner!
Love the first elk shot too!

Im not so sure it's neon pink..it looks as though some of those trees have succumbed to the pine beetle, hence the reddish color. I think all 3 Sprague shots are great, I especially like the first one. Love the elk shots too Nick.

I think the trees were reflecting the color of the elk in the lake, or maybe vice versa!
I didn't see any pine beetle did you Nick?

Mmmm! I can't wait! The lake shots are beautiful and that first elk pic is gorgeous. 20 days, Nick!

Thanks Guys - Jack you're right the "red" trees are the Pine effected ones - I actually desaturated them to knock some of the red out, it's almost impossible to find compositions anymore without some dead trees - very sad!.

Nice work Nick. Being partial to grass in images I really like #3

Hi Nick! I've been off the forms for a while as it has been a very busy summer. I just checked in and saw these. Well done! I love the ones from Sprague! The pastel colors and moon make this exceptional!

#3 is really nice, love the grass foregound, which leads the eye up into the comp. Nice bulls also!

Yup, that moon adds a real POW! to an already nice set of images. Nice elk shots, too.

Great luminosity on the landscapes! And a nice portrait of one elk, and a marvelous action shot of another. Strong images as usual.

#3 is my clear favorite from the series. Again, great color and composition here.

Great series Nick, #3 is my fav as well, great idea de saturating the red's in the dead trees.
Beetle kill is getting worse and worse every trip I get up to the high country, it truly is sad.

#2 and #3-these are nice, of course the Elk look good too!
Those first three are very serene, the colors are wonderful as well. I really like the first elk shot also; the background combined with catching the eye of the elk do it for me.
