Headed out there mid October for peak foliage. Any suggestions for some nice scenic landscapes for sunrise/sunset?

(I posted in wrong forum last time)

I was at Skyline Drive over the weekend. Try the Old Rag Mountain overview near milepost 46 for sunrise. This morning I was there shooting the sunrise when I discovered a six point buck eating in the meadow directly in front of me. I spent more time with the backlit buck than the sunrise.

Take the hike up Hawksbill Mountain. Park at Upper Hawksbill parking area at milepost 46.7. Hike 1 mile and you will be at the highest point in the park. Great 360 view there. It would be a great sunrise spot. I will try it at some point.

Keep your eye open for bears. I found a full grown bear in an oak tree eating acorns today and he was more interested in eating than watching us photograph him. It was amazing. Keep your distance though. If their behavior changes you are too close.

Blackrock summit is also a great sunrise local (mile post 85 and a short hike on the AT).
Ditto on Hawskbill (also good at sunset)
Big Meadows in the morn for wildlife.

Have fun!
