Bird Reflection
I usually don't shoot birds but when I saw this I decided to fire off a few shots. It was taken at Vancouver lake and converted to B&W. Do you think it works? Would you call it an abstract?
(with my camera of course  )

I would call it simplistic

And simplistic is great.

Very unusual and interesting, Erik! The vertical pole is really striking; it's stark and oppositional (to the flow), but otoh is what gives this image it's meter spike on the startle response. I'd call it fine art. Really made me stop and look hard and think. Definitely not an image to take a glance and move on. Good eye for it. I'm curious about what you were thinking when you saw and captured this. Not that you have to answer… It's really a cool shot.

I don't think it's simplistic at all. It's arrestingly simple with so little detail that my eye was drawn immediately to the subjects. And black and white tonality is so subtle... Wow, great shot!

I like the sharp, clean lines that take you right into the photograph. It has what I'd characterize as a "classic" feel. I think this is an excellent b&w photograph.

It has the powerful lines of a classic modern art piece, mood, wonderful light, and the cormorants give it some added expression to warm up the frame. The horizon line adds some nice depth to the image too - this is just a superb shot Erik. The high contrast of the main lines play off the lower contrast in the rest of the image perfectly. Excellent.

Wow, I like this Erik. Captivating in its simplicity. This is one of the best I've seen of yours. (Does it maybe need a scant clockwise rotation?)

simplistic yet makes you think.

I would also call it simplistic but I'd also call it pretty cool!
