Marbled White from birds eye view.
Hi all

I haven't posted for a while and since I didnt get anywhere in the BWPA I thought i'd send some of my submissions up to see where I went wrong! Congratulations to all those who got through to the final stages. I'm sure we'll find out who they are very soon.

First up is this marbled white... on looking directly above the butterfly to find out whether I had got the plane of focus with the wings right, I found out that it would be a lot more interesting image if I photographed it from a birds eye view. I think this image is made a touch more special with the dew on its antennaes and eyes.

I'd like to know what other think of this so comments and criticisms welcome, bad or good!! :toast: :toast:

Cheers

Ian

A unique shot. The shallow depth of field has really helped. The dew is great and I like the small splashes of purples. Some may find the amount of white mush distracting, but I like it personally. :toast:

Certainly a different viewpoint, but if I knew why it didn't do well in BWPA I might have done better myself!

Interesting shot Ian, the dew covered butterfly is great but the flower is very overpowering, just a personal taste thing I guess.

an interesting and striking shot Ian. The white is perhaps a little overpowering and it's not immediately obvious that you're looking down on it from above. It could be a side view but then you wonder where the stem is. But beyond that I can't find fault with it and think it's a very nice image.

A very good idea, but for it it just does not work, far too much softness in the frame and the whites are rather over powering.
