Out with a Bang
Labor day went out with a bang as this storm moved in toward Castle Rock. I cropped out the Lights on I-25 and cloned out some of the yard lights around the plateau

Both are nice, but I like #1...no distractions. Good job.

Yes, I too prefer 1. I might clone out the lights on #2 like you did with #1, as it should be easy to do with the black background.

Another vote for #1, that is quite the lightning storm, well captured!.

Wow what a lighting show to witness, must have been fun to shoot, that first shot is great.

Powerful shots! That must've been a pretty rockin' storm, because I saw it looking north from Pueblo's north end last night.

Super shots, I love how the bolts seem to wrap around the mesa.

Nice shots. I watched this from my bed room windows and now am kicking myself for not going out and taking some pictures.

Thanks everyone. I agree Grant, #2 would look better with the lights cloned out. I left them in to kind of give a reference of size.I looked up the mesa on a map and it's actually named Dawson Butte.I saw this as I was headed to the grocery store so I only got the bare necessities so I could get back in time to go shoot. I was able to shoot for about 1/2 hour before the storm hit Castle Rock and it was a dusy.

Wicked looking bolts! And the second shot does give a sense of scale. Nice work.

Very cool indeed!
Man, I love the purple skies that these strikes generate.

Great shot! Like the crop in the first image. Really emphasizes the lightning.

Amazing shots, my friend in Castle Rock told me about this storm. If you photoshop the lights out then that second one will be (excuse my youthful expression) killer!
