Hi,
I have a week off at the end of Sept, would like some autumn shots,
is it too early? Have the trees in Scotland started to turn?

There will be colour then, but perhaps not quite at its best until next month. We go to Perthshire most weekends and Mid-late October is usually stunning. Mind you, it is pretty good all the time, so I would give it a go. Depends a lot on the weather I suppose.

Sadly the Forestry Commision Autumn colours web page is still stuck on 2008, I can't find the page doing the same again this year

Interesting that 2008 map, there seems to be no trend as to where goes "golden" first, I had assumed the further north you go the more likely to reach trees in autumn colour.
So learnt something new again.
Cheers

The map displayed bears no resemblence to prior years, as you say th colour progression starts "up North" with the exceptions of their arbortetums eg at Bedgebury and Westonbirt with the Acer collections.
It used to be really usefull to track colour variences
