Just wondering if any of you have worked with Chase Studio in the past, and if so, how long it took for them to pay. A new state park visitor center opened in May and I'm still waiting for a check for my digital files they used. They keep telling me that they are waiting to be paid...
No experience with them, but we've done other "public works" projects for third-party contractors, and waiting for payment in this fashion is pretty normal. I'd keep tabs on when they get paid if at all possible, then mount your pressure for payment immediately. In a worst case scenario, we weren't getting paid a year later, and investigation revealed that the contractor had received a partial pay some time before and was expecting a final payment shortly. I contacted the agency who contracted them, and they pressured the contractor to pay me BEFORE they released final payment. It worked, but come to think of it, I've never heard from that contractor again.
Come to think of it, that payment routine is not unlike many stock houses. You don't get paid till after they get paid. We don't use a stock agency, but routinely shoot on assignment for a couple of them. And we've waited as long as 7 months for payment.

Thanks, Hank. This type of payment arrangement wouldn't have been so hard to accept if I had been told on the front end that it could take so long...
